Basic English Language

Learning English at Garstang Home Education Group

At our weekly Wednesday classes at Catterall Village Hall, children will explore English in ways that suit their interests and pace.

We combine structured activities, like reading sessions and guided writing exercises, with open-ended projects such as creating stories, journals, or plays inspired by their own ideas or our local surroundings, like Beacon Fell and Brock Bottom. This flexible approach allows each child to engage with English in a way that feels meaningful and fun.

Alongside reading and writing, children will develop communication skills through discussion circles, collaborative storytelling, and presentations. They can choose how to express their ideas, explore different writing styles, and follow topics that spark their curiosity.

By blending guidance with flexibility, we aim to foster a love of language, confidence in expression, and a sense that learning English can grow and adapt with every child.
